Default Question about politics policy with relation to dogs -- thread closed

PETA and Bob Barker Calling for Mandatory Spay& Neuter Law!

This thread.

Could someone please explain to me how this has gotten politically out of bounds as it is completely dog related and no one was saying things like, republicans support this view, democrats support that, liberals this, or conservatives that, you're a bunch of nimrods, you're a bunch of pookerbutts, etc. etc.?

I was under the impression that discussions centered around dogs were allowed. Has this changed?

Why exactly was it closed?

I think a moderator has a soft spot for PETA.

This is a serious issue for pet owners and breeders. Where better to discuss this?

Can an individual mod close a thread? Is there an appeal process?

I certainly hope not. If it were up to peta we would not be allowed to have any animal as a pet.

When a mod is unsure if a topic has crossed the line or not, closing the thread for review and discussion, with the option to reopen if it's deemed appropraite to do so, is always the safest bet. In this case I think the Mods/Admins need to discuss what is considered "political" in terms of the rule and that dog related topics, which affect all of us on this dog board, need to be approached differently from general politics.

My interest in this is also that I posted on that thread, and was as political if not more political than the other posts, though in no way out of bounds as far as I can ascertain. So if that much politics on a dog-related issue is not allowed, I guess I want to know.

I read this after my last post -- takes me a while to figure out what I am trying to say and how to say it.

Thank you for your explanation. Are they going to review this?

I said it in the other thread, and I'll say it again here...

PETA is a political organization and their agenda and methods are fundamentally political. So I don't think a meaningful conversation about PETA can be had without politics...

They are going to consider reopening the thread. I agree with you. And as politics sometimes concerns pets and pet ownership, I believe there is a loophole in the policy here that allows for politics for dog-related issues. Of course everyone would still have to follow board rules, and play nice.
