On that note, if I were an advertiser and just so happened upon this discussion I would ask that she be removed as moderator.

And just because she contributes so much she can talk down on others and is immune to being treated the same way?

In all honesty, her view on internet privacy is rather simplistic.
This.

I don't think people are having a hard time understanding the rules. The posts are public, they will stay. I don't understand the defensiveness at the thought that maybe the rules could be changed to simply allow someone to close an account as easily as they opened it. Why have to have fake e-mail actts. and change your user settings and all that, My personal preference would be to be able simply to close an acct. The rules being what they are then I understand that I can change my settings and just walk away but is there some great harm in taking a new look at the rules.

Moderators are not super human, they are regular people like everyone else, I bet every single member of this forum has had a moment and snapped at someone else. I bet most of those members never even got a warning, why should MRL be stripped of her Moderator title for having a moment of frustration?

She didn't threaten anyone or spit out swear words.

Moderators are not paid members, they are volunteers, I am a Moderator on another forum, I enjoy being one over there but I would absolutely hate to be a Mod on this forum.

And that's why we don't delete accounts!

The rule has been written more clearly and people should have a good idea of the other things that come in to play for this type of thing.

Thanks for playing everyone!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to chime in here but the other mods/admins have been filling in the details nicely.

Here's the bottom line:

1. From a tech standpoint, we CAN delete an account but we don't do that. This is our policy. We're sticking to it.

2. To make sure that we're all on the same page: We can also change your username so that it appears you never existed on this site. We can also remove all your posts so that it appears you never existed on this site. We do NOT ever do this. A few reasons for this: Continuation and flow of conversations; keeping people accountable for what they do.

3. People have been warned repeatedly over and over again: Be very careful about what you're posting because you will leave a digital footprint. I'm sure users have no issues leaving their posts here and pictures here for the whole world to see when things are going fine and dandy. But we will not remove your history here on the site just because you don't like it here anymore or it's no longer convenient to you or serves your needs any longer. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.

4. Lastly, we CAN remove your email address from our database. That's not a problem. If you want us to do that, PM myself or any of the other mods/admins to do so. I will repeat this again. This ONLY ONLY has to do with removing your email address and the sole purpose of doing this is so that you don't get emails which are auto-generated by the software when you haven't logged in for "x" period of time, asking you to log in or telling you how much we miss you. Remove your email address from our database still leaves your posts in tact.

If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to PM one of the mods/admins (including myself).
