So, I'm also looking at the date people joined. As you can see I joined in March of 2009, but looking up I see GSDElsa joined 4 months after me but has 6 times more posts than me. So I'm not sure that the number of posts is really relevant. (not picking on GSDElsa, she was just the member with the closest join date to mine that I found). So I average 14 posts a month, whereas GSDElsa averages 119 per month. KZoppa on the other hand joined less than a year ago and has 21 times more posts than me at an average of 825 posts per month. More per month than I've done in 2 1/2 years LOL. I like to read the forums regularly, but read from my iphone and hate to type on the iphone keyboard so while I can think of great replies sometimes, I usually give up after a few words and don't post and go back to reading. I get to actually sit in front of my computer in the morning for about 30 minutes and same thing at night so don't always have time to actually post.
While I agree with the sentiment of trying to protect the newbie puppy buyer, I'm not sure that you can regulate who can and can't dispense opinions on a public forum. The burden of research is upon the puppy buyer when all is said and done. Hey, 1 more post for me!!!

If anything, the rule could be that people could recommend a breeder after, say, their first 4 or 5 posts. That way they would need to post an intro and answer a couple of questions about themselves, before just joining and recommending a breeder.

I absolutely do not think the number of posts one makes should have anything to do with knowledge of breeders or recommendations.
I've seen posts over a thousand that I wouldn't listen to their advice or suggestions ever, and ones who've posted 5, that I would consider looking into further. I think Lisa said it well, you can take all the suggestions you like regarding a breeder in the end, its up to the individual to do their homework...I may like XX breeder and have a fantastic dog from them, while someone else may have a totally opposite experience.. I like Lauri's new thread ))

I have seen some folks come up with 1000 posts in a few months-when do they ever spend time with their dogs?
I wonder more about them than someone who may take 2-3 years or more to come up with 1000. I think it is always interesting to have other folks to check out. I would not buy a dog based on even a bunch of glowing recommendations if I was not personally comfortable.

Nancy, your right, there are times I want to say "if you spent as much time with your dog as you do posting, you'd have a super dog"

I am a student and school is about to start so I am in preparation of the new semester that begins next month. Also its rather hot at this time of day, so I don't try and push it, especially for Tanner, he has a dark thick coat, so being in the heat too long is not good for him, he hates and gets tired fast. I take him and Molly out in the evenings and I take them both to the park across the street to run and be off leash. Plus if I am busy or something, I have my brother, my sister, and my parents who also take care of the dogs and take them out.

the amount of posts a person has doesn't
dictate a reputable breeder nor does it mean the dogs are good looking.
