December photo contest poll

Looks like I no longer have access to the monthly photo comments subforum so I am not able to create a poll thread to vote for the winner. Can we have an admin create the poll please so we can vote before the month expires?

After 52 views and two days, there is no comment on this? Why would a mod take the time to lock that forum, but not take the time to provide an explanation. When I created the Dec photo contest threads, I searched first and could find nothing that specifically stated that only a mod could create them. So since the forum is now locked, it would seem someone has made that decision. Can we get some official explanation?

Plenty of people took the time to find interesting instances to photograph, and took the time to upload them. It would be great to actually be able to vote on them... Doesn't everyone else agree?

I did a notification on your post, hopefully someone will give you an explanation soon. I'm not sure what's going to happen with this month's unofficial contest, there has been some discussion, but I don't know if a decision has been reached. A mod did commit to taking over the contest forum starting next month.

The board was sold a year ago and the new owners did a software upgrade last February. Prior to that, threads in the contest forum could only be created by moderators, so starting your own contest wouldn't have even been possible - members were never intended to be able to start contests or create voting polls for them. Until recently we were not aware that that had changed, so this error has now been corrected.

wildo, why don't you start a poll in a general section? With the photo contest being unofficial, posting and voting can be just for fun. It's not like we are in a contest to win money prizes. I liked it that you took the initiative to get something going.

My vote goes to JKlatky by the way! I could look at that picture all day!

I love that this was posted as a question. Naw- I'm just messing with you. I'll let the new mod handle it, though I hope it does actually get done- official or not.
