Can I get an explanation on how to do this? I'm sick of using Photobucket and it would be tons easier to just upload from my hard drive.
I got as far as using the attachments button, adding the file, then copying the file link address into the Insert image button. But that leaves me with a post that has the large picture, followed by the thumbnail. Would rather the picture did not show up twice. Any help?

Couldn't agree more. I've never been a member of a forum (they seem to all be driven by the same engine) where members opted out of standard forum functionality- picture uploads- in favor of third party utilities. I find photobucket to be annoying as well.
When you press the attachment button, choose a file, and press the upload button- that's it. You don't need to use the [IMG] button at all. It's showing up twice because you are using the img button.

We used to only be able to cross post from another site like photobucket, so it's a 'new' thing to have the option to save on the board at all.
What someone pointed out recently to me, as another 'new' thing that's quick, is that now a simple RIGHT click on a photo you want to post, and then selecting 'copy'. Then coming here, opening a message, again use the RIGHT click and then select 'paste' in the message should immediately show the photo popping up. Far as the other issues, if you are saving the photos correctly here, than that's how this vbulletin forum is set up so not sure there is a fix for it....

I'm thinking you are being sarcastic.... which is fine.... but it really is the best answer.
We used to not have the option of saving on the board at all. I'm guessing if it's causing too many problems, we can disable that option and just go back to using sites like photobucket exclusively. The vbulletin format is what it is.............the Mods/Admins didn't have anything to do with selecting it and we have exactly the same issues and problems.

![]() I once had a person provide a personal reference for me based solely on the fact that they googled my name. I was working with individual "A" who just so happened to ask individual "B" if they knew me. Indv "B" googled me and reported back to Indv "A" that I would be good and appropriate for the job. Talk about a wake up call!! I quickly went through and deleted all old accounts that I didn't use, deleted FB friends I *never* talk to, and all that kind of stuff. Point being- I'd much rather share my GSD pics with a limited set of the world- you guys- than with the entire world (photobucket). Now that I know the reasoning behind the push to photobucket (and that it is just old hat) I'll gladly start uploading directly.

Some of us prefer to have greater control over our pictures and not leave them hosted here, where we no longer have control over them. A number of folks that I know choose not to upload photos and instead use a different site to host.

And this is a public forum, so whether someone is logged in or not, or even a member or not, they'll be able to see pictures posted here that are hosted on another site OR uploaded directly to this site. As MRL said, it's not that there's a push to host pictures on photobucket in particular, up until earlier this year there was no direct upload option so your pictures HAD to be hosted somewhere else. Not everyone used photobucket, some people have their own websites, some use other hosting sites, and you can even post pictures that are on Petfinder or rescue sites using the image button - the picture just has to be somewhere online. Part of the reason for many of us recommending photobucket is that they are super easy for the *ahem* less technologically gifted to use because photobucket provides a preformatted link below each picture you've uploaded to your album. You just copy that link and paste it into your reply window and your picture will appear. You don't need to know the code or use the image button at all.
