Default Spyware

I find it very disturbing that the last page I looked at, Cafepress, and all the items I viewed showing up on a banner on germanshepherds.com as soon as I opened the main page on this site.

Exactly what spyware is this site using that the items I'm viewing on another site magically showed up in a banner on this one?

I highly doubt this was a coincidence and I really don't appreciate a site that does this. This also explains some of the complains of viruses coming from germanshepherds.com

Try clearing your cookies and then going out to buy some Mac products
For the longest time I bought into the "nothing works on Apple" nonsense... Then I learned that only secure things will work on them... Half the things I surf don't show up on my Mac, when I go to my PC laptop to see, it starts installing or uploading something

It is not spyware nor virues, and owning a Mac will not change anything because this is browser-based (and these days all the browsers are available for both Mac and PC). I work in IT and my job is clearing viruses, spyware, adware, and malware from computers plus I also do web design on the side so I'm somewhat familiar with Internet marketing and how these things work.

When you look at pages on the Internet, these pages leave "cookies" behind on your computer. Your computer also saves files in its "cache" so that you can browse faster. These ad schemes that forums like this use simply look at those files left behind and then tailor the ads on the page to match your browsing habits. If you don't like it, set your browser to routinely clear the cookies, cache, and history.

I use FireFox on all my computers (Macs and PCs) and use an add-on called AdBlock. I don't even see ads on this site or other sites.
