The interaction and discussions were the issue, not the topics. If people could have played nice, politics would have continued to have been allowed to be discuss the way they had been allowed for YEARS previous.

With all due respect, I know why the discussion threads were banned, but to have these ads running seems to be a bit on the side of greed...Is anyone else seeing ads by local politicians running between posts? Is there a limit to what will be let in ad-wise?

It's not my call but I could care less. I pretty much ignore all the ads that pop up here, can barely keep up with all the chatting I do on so many threads.
As long as we allow all politicians to post, I can ignore them all equally......

Yes, there is a limit to what ads will be let in but I'm not sure what that limit is. I do know that if we catch any puppy mill ads we are to report them. Beyond that I'm not sure what further limits they'd be. |

With regards to the ads you see, they are being served by Google. One of the way Google serves ads is based on keywords that their bots scan for on a web page. You have to understand that advertisers pay Google to serve ads based on more than one specific keyword.
What that means is that while we don't have political discussions here, a politically related ad may be served based on key words other than politics (i'm guessing here but words like "family", "government", "city" would be useful keywords). |
