Default Local area chapters?

On another forum I'm a member at there were chapters that one could "join" so to speak. For example I live in Colorado and am interested in other members on this board who may live in or near CO. I could join the Colorado section and learn about things going on local to the area.

Is there anything like that on this forum?

I don't think it has to be necessarily by state but maybe by region, like CO, NM, WY, UTAH etc...

I haven't been on the forum for long but I've looked around a bit and haven't seen anything like this.

It's a great suggestion that comes up periodically, but we've had difficulty with how to break it down to keep it from being unweldy. There are members here from all over the WORLD!

I do think that could be a daunting task since in my short time here I've seen posters from Cambodia all the way to Australia. I would recommend that there be a section for country and then break it down from there. Or possibly continent. Even for the U.S. I don't think it would need to be extremely granular, but enough to get a local flavor. I would also suggest that it not be restricted, although the main goal would be for those that live semi close to be able to share ideas.

IF something was put in place, it would have to be some kind of general location break up. We have so many members all over the world.

Anyone with a good geography base and feel for the locations of members here (thanks to all who put their general locations in their User CP ) feel like taking a stab at this? USA - Northeast? USA - Southeast?

Ok, I'm done.....

If there's no further interest in this, or helping come up with grouping, then this will be an easy idea for the Mods/Admin to continue to not bother to deal with.

IMO it's easiest to start with the U.S. I have seen a large number of people post from both coasts as well as the for lack of a better term the "Rust Belt"
(Ohio, Michigan, PA, IL and others).

It may be that to get a local flavor this is just too granular.
Would be nice for more feedback from others. But like you said if it's not of interest then why bother? It was worth putting out there.

I like the idea of having sections for people in the same areas of the country/world. Especially to make socialization dates and what not. You can either break it down to each state for the US and then just make a general International section. I don't know how many members are not in the States, but I would imagine the majority are. If you think that it would be too much to break down to the 50 States, then we can go by areas....Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, Midwest that kind of thing. Personally I think it would be good to break it into the individual states, that way you know you are talking to people relatively close to you when setting up events... just my 2 pennies....thanks
