How does one delete their account? I know the messages would stay but deleting the user name and password?

You can't delete your account.

You can go into your 'User CP' and remove any information you've entered about yourself but I don't believe there is an option to delete the whole account.

Sorry.

That is something I don't like on online forums. If somebody wants to be deleted, they should have the option to do so and I happen to know that it doesn't take much for an Administrator to delete an account. It's a couple of clicks.

I agree with the above poster, the End User should have the ability to delete their own account, sure posts would stay, but instead of a user name you could just put guest... After an account is deleted, do not allow that person to create another for 3-6 months or 6-12 months...

I remember a guy that got banned. His posts were still there, but his username was "anonymous" (I believe).

Oh, I remember that ... wasn't that Tom (his user name was something like GSDDad) - he was in the Army ... I still miss him!!!

If we ban a member their posts will stay. If we "delete" a member all of their posts will be gone.

I'm not sure what the big deal is to be honest. If someone doesn't want to be here, they are free to go. No one is making anyone stay.

I agree with all that.

Since many members post great information all over the place, it's not fair to lose all that just cause a member decides to leave the forum.
