I just want to remind everyone that this area of the board is for suggestions/comments/criticism from any member who has an idea for us on how we can help improve the board. (Yes, that includes complaints.) It’s not the chat room and it’s not meant to be a place where people argue back and forth about who's right and who's wrong. I know that happens sometimes but it’s neither helpful nor productive to anyone and being right/wrong does not apply in this area IMO. It works much better to try and understand what the problem is and if it needs a solution and if a solution is needed is it something we can do anything about?

So back to what I’m seeing as the actual problem;

I find it funny that people complain about the complainers and dont expect anyone to notice they are doing the same thing.

This is how it comes across.

"I am offended that you are offended by what I posted! But my offended if greater..why? Because im in the majority! thats why!"

I also think people who scream "deal with it" or "get over it" and the like need to also start taking their own advice. I also think people need to deal with the fact that just because someone holds a different view doesnt mean it is bashing.
So actually this really isn’t about religious posts at all. Their just an example to illustrate a point???

If I understand what you’re really saying is that you really don’t care what the topics are it’s the responses by others in certain topics? You don’t really want to see more rules or a subject matter banned from discussion. Well some may disagree with me too but I have to admit that yes – sometimes there is a “mob mentality” on this board. Problem is I’m not really sure what we (we = mods/admins) can do about this. Do you have any suggestions?

Religion tends to fire people up... I do not care what your religion is as long as you are a good and respectful person... Be you Pagan or Christian. You won't change my views and I won't try to change yours.

It's not the topic that is the problem, it is the people who are too immature or who get angry over it... that is why staff have those awesome delete, edit, warning, infraction, and banning buttons.. If people can't keep it civil on the topic of religion, why would they keep it civil when it's a subject on dogs that they don't agree with? Far as I'm concerned, members who will attack others for their beliefs would do the same if they disagreed on chaining dogs, and those members can take a permanent vacation off the forum...

And honestly, if someone disliking or opposing your religion hurts you that bad, maybe you don't have a good relationship with your deity(ies) or religion itself...

Hope I made a bit of sense...
I haven't been a part of this forum for long but I agree totally with this post. Rather than adding a new rule the idea for adding a "Controversial and Heated" section would be fine. I just don't understand how a thread that posts a bible verse is such a big deal that people want to change the rules governing the forum. If someone in one of the tribute threads says God bless or something like that should it be censored? Is that the idea here? I think that's overkill.

sorry for the OT chat

Now I don't care what the decision is, I just want the bickering to stop. I don't understand the problem since the thread in question was there for almost 2 years and was only added to once a day so it was easy to ignore. Then 1 person makes a big stink and now the board is fighting again. Thats how I see it anyway.

The other board a lot of us are on doesn't allow either and mods and members don't have to deal with issues like this. If not ban it then how about a seperate area in the chat section. Only for religion though or is that just another way to make people ignore it if they don't like it? I myself didn't have a problem doing that but obviously we're all different. Tough job trying to please everybody.

But that's just it. I think if you read the OP's posts she really isn't looking for a new rule or a change to the rules. I think some are missing the point. (OR maybe I'm missing the point.)

What I gathered after all the back and forth was that although the OP says she's not asking for a change the motive behind it is to cause one to occur, otherwise why all the back and forth and why post in the suggestion box? This will be my last post on this particular issue. I think the board is fine the way it is as far as this goes, if people are respectful of eachother then there shouldn't be an issue, if they arent that's when the mods should step in.

I interpreted the issues as: Since there is not fair and balanced treatment to religions/religious discussion all religious discussions should be banned the same as political ones have....
