If you are so opposed to these type of threads, why don't you just ignore them and move on to another forum on the board?

Your right, I dont post much in the other boards. Ive got to where if I can offer any advice I usually send a PM. Politics ended up running over into other boards and it ruined ever posting in them. I use to, and still try to in some sections. But often times I dont feel like repeating what 20 others have said before me.

The whole "ignore it" thread seems to go only one way around here. When someone doesnt like what you write, tell them to ignore it! How dare they express opinions that are different!

If people dont like my opinion on it, then ignore it!

Religion tends to fire people up... I do not care what your religion is as long as you are a good and respectful person... Be you Pagan or Christian. You won't change my views and I won't try to change yours.

It's not the topic that is the problem, it is the people who are too immature or who get angry over it... that is why staff have those awesome delete, edit, warning, infraction, and banning buttons.. If people can't keep it civil on the topic of religion, why would they keep it civil when it's a subject on dogs that they don't agree with? Far as I'm concerned, members who will attack others for their beliefs would do the same if they disagreed on chaining dogs, and those members can take a permanent vacation off the forum...

And honestly, if someone disliking or opposing your religion hurts you that bad, maybe you don't have a good relationship with your deity(ies) or religion itself...

Hope I made a bit of sense...
Exactly.
Too many people's egos can't handle someone disagreeing with them. It isn't just this forum either, it's all over the place anymore, simple disagreements are met with hostility because someone dare disagree.

In a way I do see what you are saying, but at the same time given the history and the way things have gone in the past, its one of those things that I guess you'd have to have been there done that.

My main problem isnt Religion itself, im pretty passionate about it. But the one sided and mob mentality.

If people want to post something about their religion, then they need to deal with the fact that they might get negative results. It goes both ways IMO. Or should, but I have found that it does not. If you even hint at anything negative, esp. about Christianity on this board then the mob comes out with "get over it" basically. But oh noes if you tell them the same thing! Hypocrisy at its finest

OK really guys this is a GERMAN SHEPHERD FORUM, there is no need to talk about religious needs or anything not regarding the GSD. I think mods should consider all threads must have something to do with GSD's or Dogs, and mark others as spam except in the chat room, and if you really want to talk about religion so much and know it will being up arguments, please do not post and and find yourself a nice religeous forum.

thanks

I don't believe in "God", and I'm not offended when people do the "OMG" about a fictitious being - along with his fictitious "son". I just stay out of it.

Thank you, Buddha!!!!

First of all can I say THANK YOU for making your suggestion in an adult manner? I really appreciate this and respect your opinion 10x more than a person running around the board like a little child throwing a temper tantrum. This is much easier to read, consider and talk about.

I have just a few things that I think should be considered. They might matter and they might not. Just some initial thoughts (I may have more later ).

Some members complain there are already too many rules around here. Is this an important enough issue to you to have us incorporate another rule you will have to follow? If it can be discussed here in a civil manner, do we really want it “outlawed”? Personally, more rules make me kind of cringe so I put up with things that make me just want to puke. I’d personally like to see less censorship and a little more freedom of speech. I guess we really have to weigh the pros/cons here and then make up our minds.

Personally, I’ve always hated most all political/religious discussions that are done in public but what I hate more is someone telling me that I “CAN’T” do something.

I think, for me anyways it isnt so much the issue on religion as it is the way it is gone about. The one sided mob mentality of it. And yes, it is here very much so. How is saying that the bible is a myth any more or less disrespectful than saying someone is going to H because they dont believe.

I find it funny that people complain about the complainers and dont expect anyone to notice they are doing the same thing.

This is how it comes across.

"I am offended that you are offended by what I posted! But my offended if greater..why? Because im in the majority! thats why!"

I also think people who scream "deal with it" or "get over it" and the like need to also start taking their own advice. I also think people need to deal with the fact that just because someone holds a different view doesnt mean it is bashing.

Personally, I don't see people screaming anything other than a few who are always posting in a combative tone.
The mob mentality? Not sure I've seen that either. But then again I tend to stay away from certain threads in chat as they are of no interest to me. That is the beauty of these forums...just don't enter what you don't want to be involved in.
I'll go out and train with my dog instead

GSDolch, if this was just a complaint for the purpose of complaining, than knock my post out and forget it. But it seems like over many threads there has been an outright assault on the daily Bible verse thread in particular and religion in general. And the desired outcome for a few very loud individuals is for the administration to stop allowing these topics.

At this point the few individuals will be very, very happy because they will have won. The mods will be very busy censoring more, and upsetting more people, and explaining to new people that they cannot post things about prayers, and such.

So witchcraft is a practice. One could argue that religion is a practice as well. We practice a certain religion. It is a part of life and has to do with everything in life. You have to have heard it all the time, "he is a practicing Catholic" and so forth.

But whatever. This is not complaining about complaining, it is defending the right to discuss religion in our posts, and to have the daily Bible verse thing.

To be 100% honest, I do not read the daily Bible verse, and other than looking to see who is posting them the other day, never clicked on it. Why? Because this happens to be the time I spend reading and writing about my dogs. But the idea that someone should be so gung ho about ridding the site of these bothers me. And for others who do read them, and for the one who writes them, and because opinions were asked, I voiced mine.
