I don't know if they have set "rules", but I would expect by "doing your time", becoming an established part of the board, having an even temperament most of the time and a balanced viewpoint, being a leader on the board and that folks look to, and then a huge bit of luck that they need someone at the right time.

Most likely a process that takes years rather than months, and may never evolve either. So, as Diane says, for now, enjoy the board

Yes I know, I have gotten moderator on other forums. One with over 200K members.
