Is it just me...?

Is it just me or does the new layout and theme look a bit unprofessional compared to the old board? I've been reading a lot on my iPhone and yes, it works fine on the iPhone, but the board is starting to feel very "average" and "repetitive" compared with many other discussion boards out there. It doesn't feel like this one stands out anymore. The old board's design and colors felt like the board had stepped out from the rest of the crowd as a professional, high-quality resource that seemed to be designed by moguls in the breed. I'm getting a feel of a very "amateur-ish" design and no longer believe the board is standing out from all the rest. Instead of being the shepherd dog that rules the flock, the board feels like just another sheep.

So is it just me? I am used to the interface and am not having issues with navigation (other than the PMs), this is just an observation I have after using it consistently.

It does look like a lot of forums... But I personally could not care less, I know that it is VERY active, easy to navigate, and full of knowledgeable people, those are the things I check off before joining a forum...

I'm sure more people will come with better responses for you soon.

Nope not you at all. This seems more canned ham average out of the box slap up a webboard and less thought out than it was before the vboard upgrade (or downgrade depending on how you look at it)

I wish they didn't do this downgrade. I waste so much time for just scanning for a thread of interest and for new info that active participation in this board will stop making sense pretty soon.

it is visually "busy" and it has taken me a while to get used to navigating the different format...but change is the only constant in life, the new board is what it is, complaints and negativity won't bring the old one back. there are so many forums on the net, new boards all the time, everyone has choices to make. it can even be multiple choice and that's so great!

I have to admitt, I am not a fan of this new board.

I too think it looks less professional and looks "thrown together", it doesn't stand out anymore. It looks like every other board out there..

Oh, well.. nothing we can do..

I liked the old forum better. The million boards we had looked less cluttered with that format. Plus, I frequent three forums. One uses vBulletin, the other uses invision power board, and this one used some other kind, so it was cool to have all of my forums with different formats. It separated them better.

And maybe it's just me, but this forum seems less active. Maybe it just LOOKS less active.

I am generally averse to any changes. But I am hoping that after a few weeks it will be "normal."

If there was a cell phone with just nine digits, send, and end, that would be the phone for me.

It is less active because a bunch of folks got tired of being grilled and made to feel very unwelcome. I like the new form - change is good.

For a lot of people it may come down to that. I think the administration here needs to know what their members perceive as positives and negatives so they can make better decisions with the forum before too many people leave. They have a financial interest in this board, after all. No one is telling them to change but they did ask for feedback.
