Default Dealing with young adults

I had a thought last night.Since we have young kids on here and it is hard to know that unless they say it in a post is there any way to mark them as being under 18? Like some smiley or code that could be put on there signature.
I know, shouldn't single people out, but on some of the past posts things may have gone easier had people known they were dealing with a child not an adult.Explaining things to a kid is a little different than an adult. We can then work around suggestions for a kid, rather than an adult, say like on no money for training or food and things like that.

Just an idea I thought I would throw out there. Not even sure if Admin knows the ages of the ones signing up to be able to do anything like this.

Or another thought is maybe a kids corner of some sort so we know the ones that post there are younger than 18.Then do training, feeding, chat forums on that.

I'm not sure it would be a good thing to identify anyone as under 18 on even a GSD board - sadly a lot of bad people out there even read these types of boards

I know it just makes it hard to communicate some times not knowing.
What about a kids place then it is up to them if they want to use it?At least if questions are posted there we know to go about the advice different.

Giving children a special place to post is still identifying them as children, making them easy to spot by adults who enjoy stalking kids in cyberspace. And yes, I've seen this happen on AOL when their message boards were extremely popular.

As a board Admin. I do not see this as a good idea to single out any group of people on the board.

Designating a group of members creates a separatist attitude and who is going to judge if a person who claims to be X years old isn't just a stalker.

Another issue is where would it stop. Would you then like to mark people who are say over 60, what about 50, what about single, what about religion or race?

its not that the advice would be different, but understanding the situation better could allow for a different approach to be taken. there have been threads in the past where i've gone "oh, duh" half way down the page after realizing that the person is young. for instance - i'm sure you can see how a thread could go in the direction of "if you don't have the time, money or vehicle to get the dog to training, then maybe you should reconsider having a dog" or something along those lines ya know? or knowing that its a child trying to convince their parent to upgrade a particular dog food, and not the child themselves choosing to feed it, etc.

i definitely think it would help in some cases - but i also understand the reasons W/Tiger has given for not singling them out.

I agree with the reasons for not singling them out, for the same reason I don't want to have a flaming pentagram under my screen name and other members don't want to have their race or marital status (never mind, cougars in the house woooo hooo!)

Still it would be helpful for the reasons Camerafodder suggests.

It would be helpful to know if someone is male or female becuase lets face facts, the genders think differently. Every woman who's married or has ever been married knows, you need to give a man advice differently than you do a woman.

Maybe it could be suggested but not required to add general age to signature lines?

I'd add AGE = COUGAR if it inspires the NYMPHS to do the same.

Thank you that was all I was saying. But as usual it takes another member to be heard.I don't want genders, religion, race, anything like that and I would hope one suggestion wouldn't lead to that.It is just to help out the young kids that have animals.

Like I asked before just delete the suggestion because obviously I have no clue so it is taking up space.Thank you kindly
