Default So,what is the history behind germanshepherds.com?

How long has it been around? What started it? Who started it? I was curious.

This is a similar thread that sortof talks about the history

http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...page=4&fpart=1

But I do not think the founding member, Rhaya, ever came back to post on it! Would be neat if she did! I know people are really busy but I often wonder how Rhaya could have founded such a great site and then came to not post here? Or how the admins became admins? It is all very interesting Thanks to all who have made this a great site, especially the founder

this is the last and only post I think I have seen from her in the almost three years I have been signed on here (not counting the months I spent lurking before signing in...heheh)

Maybe some of the '00 '01 '02 members could give some more history as well? What was it like then and such?

I'm surprised to learn that this was a Canadian site.
I wish Rhaya would come back.

Looks like Rhya sold out to a company called VerticalScope . (They go around buying forums from people who generally don't have the time, money or resources to keep running and maintaining them. VS and companies like it usually pay anywhere from $2,000 to $500,000 to forum owners just to buy a forum.) I'm surprised no one here bothered to tell the membership that GS.Com was sold and now has a new owner.

How did you find that information? Has it been verified? Why would we need to be notified that the ownership of the board had changed hands?

Actually isn't GS.Com different from our web site? There was a moment in time, last year I think, when it redirected here. Now it redirects to Goldman Sachs website.

I found out by checking the whois information for the domain: germanshepherds.com. You can go to register.com or godaddy.com and check it too. In fact, here it is, a screen capture:

Because it's only the polite thing to do!

If I was a long-standing member of a forum that was sold out like this I'd be and feel betrayed that the forum owner didn't inform me and the rest of the membership. It's basically a stab in the back.

GS.Com is easier and quicker to type out than GermanShepherds.Com. I know others here who use GS.Com too for the same reasons.

No offense, but isn't this a FREE Site for us? I mean I could understand if the change in ownership were to cause a change in our FREE service. And then we should be notified if the site is being pulled as that is just polite and good business. But I don't see anything to get all upset about.
