If you go to the main Forums page, all the forums with new posts have a yellow thingy next to them (what is that? a notepad?) and then if you go to that forum all the threads with new posts have a yellow file folder next to them. If you click on a thread it automatically takes you to the first new post since your last visit.

But many of us just click on the Active Topics link in the yellow strip at the top of the page, which will show all the threads with new posts in the past 24 hours. It also shows the option of 48 hours and 7 days, but I'm not sure those actually work. Of course that means you have to visit the forum at least every 24 hours.

Do people go longer than 24 hours unless they're away from interent access?

I know, how could people not check in here every 24 hours! I only hang in the 'Active Topics' part of this site.

I would also really like a new topics button. That way when I come back in an hour I don't have to swim threw so many topics to find the ones since last visit.
Thank you

You don't have to swim through all the topics to find the new ones. Go to the Active Topics link, select the 24 hour option, start at the top of the list and scan down through everything added within the past hour, or whatever time frame you choose. They're listed chonologically, with the most current at the top. Stop when you see posts that you've already read.

As you run your mouse down the list of active topics you'll see a brief preview of the last post in each thread so you don't even have to click on it to tell if it's one you've already read. You can also see the time of the last post and who it was posted by.
