Default How to make a member stop with abusive PMs?

I searched to see if someone might have asked this before but couldn't find anything. Is there any way other than telling the person to stop it, to block a person from sending PM's to you? They are abusive in nature. Thank you.

It would be nice, wouldn't it? I suppose you could quote and paste it to a moderator? Or you could handle it yourself. I'm not the type to pick a fight but if someone starts with me, I'll finish it.

There was a member who last fall was sending flaming emails to me and another member. My dog was less than what she saw fit becuase his father was bred on only a BH, my friend's dog was too tall and oh if he wieghs that, he must be fat and as I recall, the offending member said 'Does your breeder know what she's doing???' Turned out she was mad at my friend's breeder for turning her down on requests to stud her bitch (does that sound right, she wanted her female to have their males puppies...). She was mad at my breeder becuase of a long complicated story that boils down to she has 2 dogs from them and wanted to be given a puppies to be trained and sold for police work - which they would split the profit on.

We got together and send her some nasty mail back copying eachother. Now my friend and I are much older than the offender and seemed to be much smarter. Then she started making veiled attacks in public threads but I shut that down too.

Thank you! I did notify a moderator, I also blocked the person, but it looks like it only blocks what the person writes on the boards??? Will it block them from contacting me?

Yes, Jenn, I'm the same way, I am really easy going and peaceful, but I will defend myself if I have to. It's basically the same type of situation as yours, just different subject. Seems the person has personal problems or nothing better to do. I also have a hunch the person has PM'd others and ticked them off too LOL. Hopefully a mod will be able to help soon. I have no problems with PM's, love them, met awesome people!

Personal issues with nothing better to do sounds about right. You could always say things like the wicked mega looser who keeps PMing me needs to stop now.

LOL, that'll probably get you another PM, which you could forward to me who is usually bored about 9pm. I have a posse...

The Admins on the board can eliminate all sorts of features for offending posters. You can disable PM functions or just flat out IP Ban them, which is what I do on a different board I help manage.

There's no need for anyone here to get nasty. We're here to talk about dogs, not be at each other's throats!

Gotta love people that are message board 'tough guys'!

Who has the time for that?

In this type of case I would skip going to a Mod and go right to a Admin. Mods do have quite a few rights on how things work on a board and do stuff up too a point but the Admin have what is you would call the god rights and if I am correct are the only ones that can ban people or look if they need too inside your PM mail box (both peoples) so really fix it.

Yes you need to contact 1 of the 3 admins and copy the threatening pm's to them. They can then take appropriate action. None of us, including admins, can look in a PM box. You have to copy and paste.
