Default New Posts? Trying to get used to the forum.

On the Cairn forum I belong to there is a button I can click that says "new posts" so I can see what is new since I last checked. What is the easiest way to see if there are new posts in a topic I am interested in?
It shows the last poster and how many replies.

Sorry, I am just trying to get used to it...

Clicking on active topics at the top is the way that a lot of people check.

And once you go into a section it will look something like this:
Brody's teeth stuck in Harley's collar 4 (4) and the red number in () tells me how many have posted since I last opened that paticular thread. So in this case that is a new thread since I was last in that section.

If it were Brody's teeth stuck in Harley's collar by Lara 104 (64) that would mean there were 104 reponses and 64 of them since I was last in that thread.

Another great option is to use the "My Watch Lists" that's in "My Stuff", I recently started using that and love it
