Lost Storm to HSA

4+ months after splenectomy, we had to finally let go of Storm. He had another tumor on his liver that started bleeding for the second time. I miss him so much. I adopted him after his old owner was forced to surrender him. He was 63 pounds when I got him, and was brought back to a healthy 93 pounds. In the past, he went through a TTA surgery on each knee, and had anaplasmosis. He went fishing with me, hiking, and absolutely loved people and riding in cars. I will miss him placing one butt cheek on the couch where I rested, in order for me to pull him up to make spoons. I will miss him protecting his "Mommie" by grabbing my arm just hard enough to let me know when we pretended that I was "scuffling" with her. He would never grab my wife's arm if she pretended she was beating me up. I will miss everything. As a Silver Sable in Northern Wisconsin, I had countless comments about how he looked like a wolf. For those in the Minneapolis area, I thank Dr. Chuck Gehrman of the Gehrman Animal Hospital for many years of great care. I thank Dr. Steven Levine of the Inver Grove Animal Hospital for his expertise with the TTA surgeries. I thank the U of MN Vet Medical Center for giving him the extra 4 months after the splenectomy. For anyone interested, I have some videos posted on YouTube under "BWCA Shepherd". I am not sure where I go from here, but I will never forget how good Storm was. Thanks everyone through the years of me being able to look at the different topics on this Forum. You are all so dedicated to my absolute favorite breed.

I am so sorry for you and your wife.
Please take comfort in knowing that you did everything possible for Storm to make his life the best it could be.
