Got in a slap fight today with my dog.

Yeah. I did and I'm not ashamed one bit.

I come home from work, walk in the door to see my female dancing around on her hind legs, front paws out and yammering at me like crazy. Typical over the top greeting from my dogs. For whatever reason I went to my knees and started batting at her paws, well she batted right back. So I went for her head, and she followed suit. Excited, no. In some plane of existence that supersedes wetting the floor happy, yes. The session devolved into her draped over my shoulder with her crying with glee. My male took the easy road and just flopped over in front of me demanding rubs.

Coming home to that is life affirming. I made their day by just walking in the door. It's the simple things really....

Never cook bacon while naked.

Those are the best welcomes. Unfortunately I don't get them from Garrison. But my HUSBAND does! What?!?! He circles him and yelps over and over. Jumps up from behind and puts his head against his back. Pathetic. Well, ok ... my husband is out-of-town for 4 days every week but STILL!

Garrison - GSD
Cupid - terrier mix (shelter rescue)
Stella Artois - lab/boxer (?) mix (shelter rescue)
4 kitties, 1 goldfish, 1 cockatiel

Some days I get home from work and my kids are in their rooms. Only the dogs are there to greet me, but they make it so worth it.

Dexter Bartolomeo -GSD (approx 3 1/2 years)
Fluffy Cornelius - Maltipoo rescue (approx 8yrs)
Squeezette Antoinette- Shih Tzu (17 yrs)

It's totally life-affirming. My boss died at work a few months ago and when I got home a few hours later and got the over the top welcome from my dog, I started to feel better. Then we went for a walk and I wallowed in her living-in-the-moment joy for life. It really helped.

Sorry - total conversation stopper. I didn't realize until a few hours later how depressing my comment was. I have a hard time filtering. I just meant to comment on how life-affirming a happy greeting and a dog living in the moment can be.
