Thank God I came Home when
Last night my dad pulled out of our driveway and about five minutes later called to say he needed pulled out of a ditch. I shut the doors but left our screen door open so the dogs could be outside .Thought I might be gone 20 minutes at most. Husband went to end of our road and my father's one ton box truck was not just in the ditch but the truck was leaning over. After arguing that no one's small farm tractor could pull him out nor our 1500 Chevy so a tow truck was called.I left to get my credit card and b/c I just had a bad feeling. I was back home w/in 20 minutes. I pulled up to our house and lo and behold the three dogs were standin g on the cement part of our driveway. I looked over to our back vehicle gate and sure enough it was open. I had checked it earlier b/c my dad and husband had been using it to begin work on our floor for a pavillon we're in the process of putting up. My heart stopped when i saw those three. Lucky looked kind of confused ,he was standing by the gargage door. Chevy was walking toward me and for a moment I panicked as I didnt see Thunder but she was on the sidewalk going toward our back fence.I herded them all back inside.shut up the house and hugged everybody while telling them to never do that agin. This time befor I left I shut everything up w/ the dogs inside the house. I was gone maybe another 30 minutes but came home and sat surrouded by them for awhile after they got their evening meal. Im actually breathing hard now after writing about it.
I seldom will let the dogs remain outside when I leave the house as to many things can happen but this time it was so nice and they were enjoying sunning themselves so I left them out. I had checked the gate before i left but afterwards I found that something seemed to have blocked it from locking.Hubby will look at it today so hopefully it can be corrected. Got to make sure while construction is going on the dogs are outside in the front yard which can be gated off from the backyard.
A family who is about a mile away from us lost their two senior Goldens who somehow disppeared when they were let out for the morning potty break. I am so happy that this ended the way it did and my three are safe sound at home. Now that Ive written that last sentence Im calling the husband to axk if their all OK and present.
Anyone else have a thank God I had that feeling moments?
