Default So smart, it's scary

This is one of those events that even though I saw it, I still can hardly believe it happened.

I took a nice, long hot shower this morning. Just taking my time and relaxing. Mystique was laying in her usual spot right next to the tub. I got out and as I was drying off, I said "Ahhh, good shower. Now I'm hungry."

Mystique got up, went out into the hallway to her food bowl, picked up some kibble, came back and laid them next to my feet and then went back to her spot. Seriously. She brought me food. I was shocked! How in the world could she make that association???

When I fill her bowl, I usually ask if she's hungry. But I talk to her all the time so I'm not convinced she picked out the word "hungry". I'm sure most of my babble to her is just white noise.

Also, she doesn't carry her food and eat it elsewhere. She always eats standing at her dish. I had a flat-coated retriever that passed away a few years ago that used to carry a mouthful of food to the living room to eat. Mystique doesn't do that.

I'm utterly amazed. She does things all the time that amazes me with how smart she is, but this was just so fantastic! I still can't believe she did that. I love this girl so much! LOL

Has your dog(s) done anything that has left you utterly amazed? Like, all you could say was "WOW!"?

That is awesome! Gunther usually shocks me everyday with something. I think I was most blown away when I realized he had learned all the other animals names and which one was which. One day I was walking by one of the cats and I said "Hi Cleo". She jumped up in a window and he went over to her and sniffed her. So I said "Find Fuzzy". He walked off and went to the window Fuzzy was in and sat down and barked. Fuzzy was less excited than I was. So I called Gunther to me and had him sit. I then asked him where Cyclone was and off he went to Cyclone's crate. It doesn't sound that amazing now but at the time I was tickled pink. Now if I'm looking for Cleo I just ask Gunther to find her. He first goes to all her favorite hiding spots and he won't stop until he finds her. I don't think the cats like this game, but it can be very useful to me.

It amazes me when Sinister consoles me when I am crying. He will come over to me with his ears down and put his paw on my lap. He will curve his paw so that he is kind of holding my leg, whether I put my hand on his paw or hold his hand, he will lick my cheek and allow me to hug him and cry into his fur. He will not move, he will just sit there and take it.

Draven doesn't really do anything that amazes me. He is always super loving and affectionate, he loves when I hug him or put my arm around him while we watch tv. He always lays with his head on my lap. He makes me laugh and smile, he is so goofy and entertaining, it's hard to be in a bad mood around him. Actually I guess the amazing thing about him is how happy he makes me.
