Walking: Dangerous?

We recently had a hit and run in our family...and it has been devastating. I don't want to say any more about it...

My husband freaked out. He won't let me take the pups on walks any more. I don't know what to do as it is our only form of real exercise and the only way I get them out of the house. We compromised on me taking the pups in the car to a nearby school where we usually walk. But to me it's silly because we stay mainly on the sidewalks and cross a major street twice. It cuts our walk in half.

Any advice on how I can convince him to give us back our freedom?

HELP!!!

You can walk the school field path twice, dogs won't mind at all and you should be back to normal walking time! win/win situation :)

Why does your husband have to "give you back" your freedom? You are an adult, not a child. Walking a dog on city sidewalks is not a dangerous activity.

Tell your husband he has taken away your freedom (or actually you let him), then reclaim it by not allowing him to do that. It is silly to hide from potential accidents. You might as well give up the dogs and stay on the couch. Then you will get a heart attack due to the lack of exercise and happiness.

I understand what your saying. Is there any trails near you? Maybe drive there and walk the trails.

Sometimes traditions and customs are not able to be compromised.

Sorry to hear that your family has had to go through this, but you can let stuff like this control your life. Nothing wrong with being more aware of potential dangers, take what you can learn from it and keep on living. You can get hurt or worse just as likely driving to a "safer" walking location as you can walking around your neighborhood.

I understand your comment. She asked for help so I gave her my view, based on my culture.
