This Weeks Movie

This week's movie is for Brembo. The classic story, "Where The Red Fern Grows".

I'd be interested to hear what you all have to say about it, leave a post saying what you like or didn't like about it.

It was sad and i cried.

I saw it as a young child, I cried and cried. Ever since that time I will not read or watch an animal story unless I know the ending first. This is why I'm looking forward to a movie based on the book, Suspect because I know the GSD will live at the end. I really get emotionally involved in animal stories, and the emotion is overwhelming sometimes.

Never seen it. My son just started reading it today though! I actually picked it off the bookcase after he proclaimed there was NOTHING to read in this house. He's home sick from school today so no games.

The grandkids liked it when they were young and watched it several times. It is very sad though and if you are watching it with young kids you might need to discuss it after.

This was a first date movie back in the day with my boyfriend. We BOTH cried at the end! I married him.

However, I remember one scene where the dogs are trying to keep a cougar at bay. The cougar was tied to a stump by a wire around it's body, just in front of the hind legs. :(

Oh man, I just watched it for the first time. I knew it was a tear-jerker, but I don't know if I was prepared for that ending. No way could I show this to Analisa. She will never watch anything I suggest again.

I watched it years back and again recently with my kids and they liked it, good movie.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yes, I agree it is sad at the end, but I don't know----maybe I'm a fatalist or something, I felt sad they were gone, but uplifted by the story at the same time.

I suppose that for me, the red fern at the end seemed to give me a feeling of "Yes, you are sad for now, but one day, you will see that everything will be alright again, and the red fern is the sign to you of this."

I appreciate the comments. If everyone thought this one was so sad---maybe I'd better hold off awhile on putting "Old Yeller" up.

Thanks for watching.
