Need some Help guys
I posted before asking if my puppy is GSD or not, as I heard different things from many people. From Keeshound, to lab/shepherd mix, to breeds i cant even pronounce.
I got the puppy from a guy who could not take care of it. He told me the puppy is 8 weeks old and a German Shepherd. He never gave me any other information and I cant get a hold of him since.
Anyways, the Vets are not much help either. So I am coming to GSD community looking for answers and help.
CURRENT INFO ABOUT PUPPY:-
Weight: 7.4 Pounds
Date I got him: January 7th (should be 10 weeks old now)
Color: black and grey/white
The puppy is eating well. He is on "Blue Buffalo". His stools range from solid to soft to diarrhea.
I am going to post some pictures and I request that you guys help me out by determining the age of Blitz and breed.
Blitz laying down. An (iphone4) for size comparison
Teeth; perhaps you guys can determine his age with this
Another size comparison with a 2.5 year old PitBull
Hopefully you guys can help me. His weight is around 8 pounds (according to the Vet) and I believe he should be around 20 pounds. He is very active, and sleeps alot which I understand he is a puppy. However I am really worried about his weight and am not sure if he is a GSD or not. or if a GSD/Chihuahua :p
Thanks guys :)
Still looks like all Shepherd too me. As for age, 7, 8 or 9 weeks looks about right too me although I have never had one from a puppy so I am not a expert. Good looking dog though.
10 weeks sabo was 20lbs and large. He was difficult to hold. Is say your pup is either really young or just going to be small. Do you have any pics from day one
Kia 1/2014- now
I am not an expert but i think he is a PB GSD. Those teeth looks like they are about to teeth, my guess is he is almost 10-12 weeks.
Weight can differ from litter to litter, some gain weight fast, some grow slowly.
Again, ^ poster above are all from my amateur and noob experience :D:D so do not bite bullet for my words.
Your pup looks all GSD to me. And could easily just be on the petite side for the breed. I've seen males and females who never got bigger than 50-55lbs. All healthy. No problems physically. Just on the smaller side of the scale. Litter sizes can range just as the pups sizes can range. Usually there is some uniformity but sometimes there isn't. Your pup appears to be about 8-10 weeks old.
Just socialize, train, and love your pup. Don't stress on what the weight charts all say. Physically, your pup looks healthy and at a good weight for it's size which is what's important. Weight means they're growing but more importantly, you want to make sure your pup is at the right size for their stature. Don't count the lbs. Count how they appear physically. You want a slimmer pup so as not to stress growing joints.
I am not an expert but I think he looks like a GSD also. He looks pretty young. Although he looks small, give him more time to grow. I cant tell you how many comments I got about my dog being small for a GSD before his 20 week mark. Then he just shot up overnight. Hes on the too big list now. Please understand most GSDs are not as big as we think. They are smaller and much more agile. I cant wait to see more pics as he gets older. Such a cutie.
I just checked out your previous post. I see everyone saying it looks like a gsd. I dont know how you heard all other kinds of breeds. Its perception I guess.
Looks GSD to me too. I would say 9-12 weeks, somewhere in there. Doesn't look too thin to me.
They heard other breeds from other people, not on this forum if I remember correctly.
Looks full GSD to me. I'm not buying that he is 10 weeks, of course I could be wrong. He looks healthy.
This is the absolute best advice I have seen yet.
For a size comparision here is my boy at 7 weeks and now again at 10 weeks.
Mine is not a pure shepherd but a mix. As no expert at all, I'd guess your pup is on the younger side.
