my good boy Russell
Just some rambling about my puppy Russell...

Sage is in heat, so 10 month old Russell has had to temporarily relocate to his breeder's house for the duration. It's not as bad as it sounds. It's about 45 minutes from me, and out in the country. They go run in the woods everyday. :) My dogs absolutely love it out there, and I have a hard time getting them to go home with me. Traitors.

Got a text from my breeder a few minutes ago, just some chitchat. Then she ended it with "FYI. Your dog is NOT gun shy. He couldn't care less.". Well, yeah. He may be one of those "not-a-real-GSD American show lines", but that boy is Mr Confidence.

Russell came from a really nice litter. He has one litter sister that lives on a dairy goat farm, and another sister that has been training in tracking since she was 4 months old, with an eye towards search and rescue. That one belongs to a paramedic. She's a pretty cool dog. We are going to show Russell eventually, but not until he is about 2 years old. Dog shows are way too expensive to waste my money trying to show a big lanky boy!

Oh, and he's pretty proud of himself that he finally learned how to lie down in the chair in the living room.

Always interested in asl shepherds...can I ask what his breeding is? By any chance is he a marhaven dog or go back to those lines?

You're probably saying, "there's that lady askin about the marhaven dogs again"...lolol...

LOL, no Mar Haven.

I can post his pedigree, if you'd like. It's a lot of Alkarah, Kismet on the sire's side. Dam side is Wolf Creek, Pineywoods (from California). There's Leroy Brown and Dallas on both sides. Does any of that make any sense? I'm sure it's way too much Dallas for most people.

Russell is a big, masculine dog. Good bone. Fabulous, easy mover. Clean coming and going. Hated his croup last week (looked like it fell off his butt, lol), but this week it's just fine. Ear set could be better. Pasterns are a bit soft right now. Dark pigment, dark eye. Love his temperament. Anything startles him, he recovers fast. He just turned 10 months old, so he is still a baby.

Very handsome boy! Glad he handled the gun fire with no issues, good boy Russell!

I couldn't believe all the gunfire you can hear out in the country. Lots of people hunting, I guess. Plus my breeder and her family all love to shoot guns. Yikes.

He's a pretty dominant, pushy dog, but at the same time an absolute sweetheart. Sage tried to beat the snot out of him the other day, when he kept taking her toy away from her. He's not easily intimidated.

One of my favorite dogs ever, that Leroy Brown. Right up there with Boss and Judd, had a Judd son, now I have my Cashman, who is a Boss son...he just turned 10, MIGHT have the energy for one more puppy before I go to meet everybody at the bridge, I'm always interested in what's out there...not seein many healthy ASL shepherds.

It would be lovely to see your boy's pedigree if you don't mind posting.
