Default Penny howls

So I have never heard a GSD howl before, but Penny does it now. She howls at my nephews toys lol. Anytime any of his toys start to play Penny starts to howl, its quite hilarious, she even does the whole motion of starting with her head down and then as she howls puts her head up. Took a quick video hope everyone can see it, Enjoy

Mine howl at times, mainly at stuff on tv or in response to our howling to get them going. The funniest is my male who howls to the theme song of 2 1/2 men......

Ours used to Howl at the JG Wentworth commercial, the one that is in Opera. If she heard it, even from the back of the house, you could hear her howling. If you laughed or looked at her, she would stop.... Hilarious.

This weekend my husband and I were watching Fifth Element (again). When Plavalaguna started singing, Varik did a bunch of head tilts, then he stood up, barked and then started howling. He's so goofy. He can be an avid TV watcher at times.

Very cute story though.

I've never had a GSD that howled before either except for my current male Harry. I googled why they do this and is something to do with calling the pack together as well as establishing dominance. Might be genes as well as I'm told his maternal great grandfather did the same.

Harry howled once when he was about 5 months, his new bff (a 3yo GSD male) got into a little bit of a scuffle at a dog park and Harry howled. The other time was when he was about 12mo and I left with Lola (our GSD bitch) to take her to the vet, my son told me Harry stood at the gates and howled for quite some time.

The only other time is when I play this video for him

Video: How excited is Luke to go to the dog park?

My golden retriever puppy howls. You would swear he was a wolf or husky. The first time I heard him I was kinda shocked.

Max howls when ambulances drive past, it's so cute but I think the sound must hurt his ears! The only other time
I've heard him howl was when we left him with his aunty Sarah and he missed us for a whole of 5 minutes :P
