Default Doing something that makes you feel good? (moved to Stories)

How many of us think about things that could be done and just never get to it? Just yesterday I was talking about how I would love to go to the animal shelter and bring every dog a toy and treat for the Holiday. I got my chance today to do something good for someone. My friend called me early this morning to tell me her mom had to put their 8 year old golden retriever to sleep. She went outside and when she came back in she couldn't breath. These people don't have a lot of money, but they took her to the vet. She had water around her heart and cancer.the humane thing to do was to let her go. This dog was my friends moms companion, let her know when her sugar was high, and was there when she needed her. Of course they wanted the ashes, but they didn't have a clue where the money for that would come from. I know there situation so I called the cremation place and paid for it. I don't want anything back, I just want this woman to always have her dog. I have never felt better about doing something for someone. This is what she sent me...

Thank you for doing this llombardo.

I haven't posted yet because I really don't want to believe it yet, but Shania left us last week and I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't afford to get her ashes back.

The most rewarding acts of kindness are those in which we ask no recognition or thanks.

You did a good thing. Paying it forward and seeing someone else in need and just helping. Good for you. And I am very sorry for your friends loss.

Your kindness will stay in the hearts of the retriever owners forever.

It was nice of you to do what you did. Thank you----it may not affect the whole world, but it made one small corner a much better place.

What a great idea... I think I am going to bring homemade cookies and buy a toy for every shelter dog this Christmas. Thank you for the idea, after volunteering with my local humane society for 5 years it never occurred to me.

I did bring two large jars of peanut butter and gave every dog (that could have one) a kong filled with PB - the volunteer co-coordinator even allowed me to give one to the dogs back in the hold area.
