I was told a bizarre story that the only one who seems to believe it is a trainer who takes herself too seriously, but we're suspecting she may be under the influence of something.
This was a household with an male Afghan hound, a male Aussie, 2 female German Shepherds and a male Doberman pup. One night when the dobbie grew up, he fought the Afghan and he was severely injured when the 2 GSDs went over to protect him. They stood between the Doberman and the injured Afghan, but then the Doberman howled and the 2 GSD's turned and finished off the Afghan hound. This was observed by a neighbor, from the same part of the world where the chupacabra story comes from. From that night on, the Doberman was kept kenneled but he howled again and the GSDs killed the Aussie. The way the story was told, the dog was heard howling and the owners woke up to find the Aussie had been killed by the GSDs. According to the same trainer one of the GSDs had a bad temperament but she insisted that this was the doberman trying to finish off all the males. I am curious what some of you with more experience with working dogs guess could have happened here. I think that yes, the doberman fought the afghan for dominance and won. I don't know about the role of the GSDs, why they would finish off a dog, or if it's likely some other behavior that got misinterpreted? As for the Aussie, perhaps it was the aggressive GSD to blame. But what would the howling have to do with it? |

Oh geez - I really don't know if you can read any sense into that story!!!!
It sounds like a big bunch of bull.... - something people make up to disguise/hype up that their dog possibly killed another dog. If it's even true. people are bizarre sometimes

Im sorry I just almost died laughing.. I suddenly got this image like an old horror movie with freaky robot dogs and a creepy howl and the dogs attacking each other lol.. I dont believe the story one bit. Would make for a cool horror movie or book though! Like the doberman starting out just killing other dogs, then moving onto humans lol

Needless to say, lots of issues in the dynamics of that pack, but doubt that the Dobbie was "telling" the GSDs to kill . . . Sounds far fetched.

Let me guess.......................the trainer telling the story is a Texan.
How do you tell if someone is a Texan? A Texan will tell you the biggest lie you've ever heard in your life..................and if you believe that.............................will go on to tell you an even bigger one. If you hang around with too many Texans for too long, you will fall over..........................from your leg getting pulled so hard and so often, you won't be able to stand up straight anymore.
