Default Do you get favorable reactions from motorists when they see your GSD in your car?

On nice days when I can have my rear window open and Molly sticks her big head out the window it seems like in certain situations other drivers behave nicer to me. Like at a 4-way stop, I often get waved on by other cars to pass through first whether or not it is my right of way. Yesterday, when leaving work I had Molly with me during rush hour. I have to turn left from a tiny side street into a major, well traveled blvd with no traffic light, normally I get blocked in, but with Molly visible it seemed like both sides of the street gave me space to cross. Who would have known my GSD would be good for traffic calming?

No one knows I have a dog with me, crated inside my van.
I never let my dogs hold their heads out the window when they were in my car. And if anyone would get close enough to my car, Onyx and Kacie go ballistic.
Once, though, on my way to training with Karlo in my car, I let him put his head out the sunroof while we slowly went down the long driveway to the training building. He enjoyed that!

My rear windows are tinted pretty dark but when the "Will Work for Food" people come close, my GSD mouths off. They move on pretty quickly.

The other drivers at the light kind of give me a smile; wishing they had a big GSD in their cars ;-)

Mine is as quiet as a mouse, she has never barked at anyone while in the car, but she watches everything. She gets complimented in drive thrus all the time...most of the time they don't realize she is even there until they lean out of the window

Mauser is the same way. When he comes with and we go into the store he jumps in the front seat and lays down. Every now and then he will sit up and look around. I have never seen him bark at people who come near the car - like someone getting into their car that is parked next to us.

I get smiles all the time. If we're parked people will always ask what kind of dog he is???
BTW..this was right before going into a puppy class when Bear was little, he normally doesn't ride around like this

I get favorable reactions...except at the drive-throughs, where Gabe barks like an idiot. I guess he doesn't like fast food....

Oh yes! Especially on the rare occasion when we go through a drive-thru.

How cute! I'd smile and wave at him too.
