A neighbor who KNOWS Beau said he was loose and running around the neighborhood with a pit bull
The resemblance was so striking my husband and my mothers caregiver got me and said "we need to get Beau! He is running around loose" my husband "I called his name and he did not even look at me" And I said "He's right here" (and verified)...he was in his crate because I shuffle him and Grim these days (because of Grim having the bad back and the cancer) The loose GSD is also an intact male and I don't know any neighbors with intact male GSDs. (or pits for that matter). I do know a female GSD down the street. I sure hope nothing happens. I already emailed the HOA saying my dogs are both home and have been all day so that I would have a date/time/stamp.

How scary -Beau has an "evil twin". Quick thinking to email HOA right away saying your dogs are both home. Hopefully the GSD with his pitbull friend was only visiting for the weekend and will be long gone.

Neighbor said she found out they live in a pen near our neighborhood and are back home.

Wow, a twin. That could have been messy if something had happened. I had a similar thing happen with my cat years ago. My neighbors kept getting mad at me and telling me my cat had kittens in their back yard, it happened at least twice over a period of time. They did not believe me when I told them it was not my cat. Then one day I found my cat, dead in the road and I mourned all day until noon, I was so sad to lose my cat. At noon I walked into my gargage and there was my cat!! OMG, LOL, back from the dead! This other cat was a spitting image, same eye color, size, color, so identical that I was sure it was my cat. I will never forget finding her alive, it was surreal. It really was the oddest thing ever!

Glad everyone is safe! I found out Kenya had a twin when she got away from some people who were taking care of her for me and then ran away from them because they scared her trying to chase her down. We had posted ads on CL and someone sent me a text with a picture I thought for sure was her. We went to go pick her up and....it was not her! (but we did get her back later that evening)

I am so careful because even though my dogs are well socialized, and not aggressive, Beau is an 80lb adult male intact GSD. I take that to be pretty serious responsibility and the thought that there is one nearby who has gotten loose who could be mistaken for him does not make me happy...particularly if something happened and we got the blame!

The GSD running around the neighborhood with his pitbull pal. That GSD is a dead ringer for law abiding stay at home in his crate Beau.

When I drive by - I am going to look and see if that dog has a collar and make sure Beau's collar does not match it. I do normally leave a collar with tag on him when he is out in the yard (6 foot privacy fence, never left out while I am away from the house)
So much for Beau being a patterned sable. The older he gets the more he looks like a black and tan. Just a very dark patterned sable.
