Seriously, can nothing stop this dog?! Chrono pretends to be all silly and doofus-like but he's really a secret mastermind, especially when it comes to finding food.
In the house we are living in almost all of the door handles are in this style: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...-1890633-1.jpg Yeah, that takes no effort for Chrono to open. He just kicks it once and the door opens up. So the room I was storing their dog food in? Ransacked! So I thought I was being clever when I put his dog food in the closet. The closet is just a normal closet with little knobs on it that you need to pull open. I didn't think he'd ever figure out that you need to pull it. But he did. So he broke into the closet and raided his dog food. Again. Did I mention I store his dog food in one of those vittles vault airtight dog food containers, like this?: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...-container.jpg He knows how to open those too. Quite easily somehow, because he can open it pretty fast. I think he pushes the vault over and paws at the lid so the top spins off. So he knows how to open all the cupboards, doors, closets, drawers, whatever, EVERYTHING. I used to feed him out of a Kibble Nibble but he figured out how to open those up too. He holds down one side with one paw and spins the other side with the other paw so it opens. He's like a person with a bottomless and indiscriminate appetite. If it's the least bit edible, he'll eat it. He even eats bird seed. I have to put a Scat Mat in front of the bird room because he knows how to open the door. Although he would definitely kill my parrots if he ever got in there, his main reason for wanting to go in the bird room would be to eat all of their bird food. So, I wish my dog was dumber. Or that I was smarter. He even appears to understand some sort of bartering system because ounce he stole a piece of garlic bread off of the counter and put his Cuz where the bread was, then he came cheerfully sauntering up to me with bread in his mouth like "Look what I just bought !".

I hate having door handles like that! It took my guy all of 5 minutes to figure out how to open them when we are not around.

Oh yeah that reminds me he can also open the back door to get inside the sun room. It's one of those storm doors with a handle where you have to press a button on the top and then pull the door open, like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...3TpYw60_35.jpg
The day we were moving in I put the dogs in the backyard because we had to do one more run with the truck to get a bit more of our stuff. We were only gone like 45 minutes and when we came home the dogs were standing in the sun room! |
