Turned into Lassie this morning

This morning WD surprised me big time. He was barking next to the small crate of the old dog, who actually was curled up in front of the fire on a chair. He made that high pitch bark like, "you gotta help me out here" so I thought he couldn't reach a toy in the back of the crate. I asked him what his problem was and he looked into that crate. No toy, just the blanket. Then he nose-pointed between the wall and the crate and I saw a puddle, looked into the crate and there was a hug overnight puddle that she had not been able to contain in her old age. So WD "told" me about it. He was very involved when I cleaned out the crate outside. After cleaning it up he ignored the place since the problem was taken care of. He is only 10 months old so what more can I expect? I am so proud of him. I never thought that they would be capable of doing something like this without specific training. I love WD!!

Outstanding! Your WD reminds me so much of our now departed LT. He had that same keen instinct and almost human behavior. He knew different toys, would go get other items if I pointed to them or even just told him what to get, and I swear he understood English! He really thought, you could almost see the wheels turning in his head.
He would cuddle me for about 20 minutes each night, then jump off and go sleep in his spot all night. We miss him, haven't had one yet that matched his intelligence, even though we had and have some pretty smart GSDs. You're lucky to have such a good boy! I know you cherish him. And I love your stories!

That's very cool. The smartest dog I've ever known was a Spits (not sure about the spelling) she could literally understand what you wanted, and would respond (with actions of course).

Ha, ha, but no, no. He was in his crate all night could not have done it. Unlike people or cats, dogs don't betray each other.
