Default German Shepherds can’t Build Dog-Houses

German Shepherds can’t Build Dog-Houses

I was outside building the fences and gate for the yard, and the dog-house. My German Shepherd puppy was very interested, and decided to help me.

German Shepherds know where all the jars of rattly screws are, and do a very good job of opening them. Look at the tiny screws disappear in the grass! He tried to bring me a jar, but it was really hard and decided to bury it instead.

I was using lots of wood. German Shepherds like wood. I had planks, plywood sheets, and timber in different lengths, from short to long. They are all different and need to be tasted to check for quality I think. German Shepherds are very good at selecting bits of wood for me to look at, but not so good at bringing me the bits I really need. German Shepherds are really good at choosing the bits of wood THEY like, and it is often the ones I have just finished cutting! Now pup, where IS that bit?

German Shepherds like tools. My German Shepherd knows what all my tools taste like, and what I can do with them. He can do lots of things with tools as well! He can bring me tools, but he can take tools away too. My German Shepherd knows where ALL my tools are. If I ask nicely and have a pocket full of ham he might tell ME where they are.

German Shepherds are very good at holding things steady so they can be cut and fitted together. They can sit, and lie down, and roll over, and beg, and bow, and bark while holding things down. They are NOT so good at getting OFF things that need to be cut and fitted together.

Insulation is fluffy and soft. German Shepherds like fluffy and soft things. They like to roll on them, and chew on them, and sleep on them, and sometimes tear them into tiny little bits. German Shepherds can’t have insulation. No, you can’t. Really. Not now either. No, not even if you are cute and ask nicely. No, not even when I am not looking. No, not even when you THINK I’m not looking. No, that puppy didn’t have any. He didn’t, and you can’t either. No, not even a little bit.

German Shepherds DO like to sleep and eat bones in dog-houses though.

German Shepherds are good at eating bones and sleeping in dog-houses, and know exactly how to do it.

Incidentally, I think this would make a great children's book. Anyone out there who is a good illustrator? I was thinking in the style of Thelwell who drew all those books of ponies with children.

Let me know!
