It was the cutest thing. I had to get some Natural Balance Sausage for training and since she chewed up the rope-ball I had to get anther one of those too.
She just learned to indicate and I used her ball and the tug to teach her the indication. She also learned the out not to long ago. Anyhow. I gave her the ball and let her carry it to the register while she played a little tug with me. Some people got a good smile out of it because she's so darn cute to watch. Anyhow, I told her to sit, "out", took the ball and handed it to the lady at the register. That alone made me very proud because five weeks ago, you couldn't have done that, she would have went over the register to get that ball (crate games did make a huuuge difference and who would have thought that something as simple as crate games have such an impact on the self conrol of a dog in a situation like that?) . The lady ringed it and put it into the bag. I told her "Oh just let me have the ball." and there it was. She indicated. Sat there, barking at me. The people behind us literally cracked up. I explained that she has just learned the bark as an indication and gave her the ball. She immediately started to tug and I dragged her behind me, over the floor (she loves that game) and people cracked up even more while I was like "Yeah, she's not your regular couch potato" and laughed. Overall, she did great. It was her first time in petco and she was barked at twice, didn't even bother to look at the dog that barked at her. Now she needs to learn that in Petco, there is no need for an Indication.
