I've always been told that German Shepherds are "working" dogs. To be fully happy, they need a job to do.
Well, Brody is lazy. As far as he is concerned, the perfect job is holding down the couch just in case gravity fails. Don't get me wrong. He loves to go on walks and he has his moments of goofy play. It's just that his ideal "work day" involves testing the couch cushions for softness. But not wanting to fail as his owner, I wanted to give him a legitimate job. Something perfectly suited to his skills and aptitude. I made him my work out partner. He lays on my feet so I can do sit-ups.

Scarlett has a similar job much of the time. She has not turned out to be the best Pilates partner. She tries to hold my mat down and licks my feet and face.
She likes to hold our office couch down. I guess it would have floated away by now without her efforts. Such a good dog!
