Default Funny story for the day

My stepmom doesn't speak perfect english and she is from Venezuela where people are pretty blunt.

The fattest dog I have ever seen was walkin in the dog park, I'm talking an 80lb beagle and my stepmom tells the owner:

" your dog is so beautiful!!" then turns to the dog, showering it with pets and tells the dog in a baby voice "you are so cute and fat! You are the fattest dog ever! You are so cute you fat little puppy! I love it! You should go on Atkins with me!"

The owner was about 300 lbs and the look on her face was pure shock. Obviously no one had ever pointed out the dogs weight because the owner was big too.

I was SO embarrassed but it was really funny because my stepmom had no clue why the lady pulled her dog away and left in a fuss.

Your stepmom must be related to my husband. Oh wait - he isn't from Venezuela. We attended a neighborhood festival one year. There was an extremely obese golden there. My husbands' voice tends to carry and in shock he blurts out, "That is the fattest dog I have ever seen!" I think I kicked him. I knew the owner. I was mortified.

Very funny story. Hey - If the truth hurts....LOL!

If more people were honest, maybe we'd have less fat dogs on our hands!

Every time I'd visit my parents, I'd comment about how their 98lb FEMALE lab should NOT be 98lbs. I swear, they were SO naive about it. "She's not fat! She looks fine! She is just alwwwaaays starving!!"

Buddy of mine has two extremely overweight dogs...rottie mix and lab mix. We're talking so fat, the boys can't lift their leg to pee.

Another buddy's daughter was there and they were telling her about the dogs and said they were mixed. Without missing a beat she says "with pot bellied pigs?"

Fortunately my first buddy accepted the fact that his wife fed the dogs way too much and did not take offense. However, the lab finally got put on a diet and is reasonably healthy now.

Funny! It is sad that people don't understand how bad that extra weight is for their dogs.

My wife is sometimes guilty of overfeeding our pets. Patton, who loves to eat, was too heavy and my wife was in denial. We got an assist from a little girl in the neighborhood, who when she saw Patton coming yells out, Is it a hippo? My daughter jumped all over that.

Fortunately we have prevailed and we have Patton back down from 100 lbs to 89 and he has his bounce back)

Ugh, I hate seeing fat dogs with fatter owners...Some of my friends have this super sweet lab who's 10 years old...and he's FAT. I want to say something, but I don't really feel like it's my place. =[
