My first reactive dog, and this is a whole new learning curve for me, differentiating. As we get to know each other, I'm finding my own anxiety has gotten in the way more than I thought it did. Rey started barking at the car, which I thought was some weird out-of-the-blue fear. Then today I noticed the hair on her back wasn't up and the octave of the bark was a bit different. She's not afraid of the car - she wanted to go bye-bye, her newfound activity. I took her for a drive then to my friend's fenced yard and after she barked at them (hair was up then), sniffed around a bit, she engaged in some pretty athletic running, leaping and frisbee with me. I pretty much have her trained to retrieve and hand things back for me to throw again now, too.
Tonight I vacuumed with her out of the crate for the first time. She's now allowed free in the house off-leash with supervision. She barked and hunkered down at the Dyson. Again, hair not raised - it's a game. |

I used to get really bad anixety with my GSD when he did that and I always thaought it was agression and honestly he isnt aggressive. A trainer, 2 breeders with dogs Torque is out of told me it just out of nerviousness. Dont know for sure. But i was told to ignore it. So ive ignored it and really Torque's hair only stands up when the neighbors Boxer comes out and they do not like eachother. But over all my anixety is pretty much gone when it comes to Torque. I know what hes personality and I am capable of controlling him. I dont know exactly what your asking. notsure if i helped. interestedto see what others say.
