The flapping the end of the leash at her nose for chewing on me has worked. I don't know why, but it has. Go figure - I'd tried about everything. Maybe I've handled her a bit too much with kid gloves. She hates it when I lightly flap her nose with the leash for some reason - I'm not hurting her. I did it for two days after I realized I was getting a reaction; immediately, every time, and she quit chewing on me, my chair and her leash. I watch her stop and think about it sometimes, too, and it's focusing her and calming her. So I started it last night when she chewed too much or too hard on Buddy, pestering him, and today she greeted him with licks. She looks at me to make sure I'm watching what a good girl she's being.
Today when I was working, I let the leash down to see what she'd do and left it most of the day. She had to be told "no" a few times but overall she pretty much laid in the office with Buddy while I worked. She only got in trouble once and it was when I left her alone in the laundry room, when she decided it would be great fun to pull the straw out of a broom. She's also learning to communicate with me now. Today, for the first time, she barked to tell me she had to go outside to pooh (instead of chewing on me frantically). |

We had to grab Sheldon's mouth to get him to stop. No amount of yelping, ignoring, giving him a toy instead, anything worked. So we would grab his muzzle and say 'NO' in a firm voice. Took about 3 days, and he hasn't chewed on us in MONTHS. =3 And before someone gets their panties in a wad, no, he's not hand shy. You don't hurt the pup when you do it, just close their mouth.

Glad that your girl has decided that using mommy or daddy as a chew toy is not a good thing. What works for some does not always work for others. Good luck and I hope that she continues to be a good girl.
