Default It's potty time! Now!

Viking's housetraining has gone fairly well. There have been about 3 or 4 accidents, but he's getting the hang of it. He goes almost immediately when we go outside now. So, after taking him out to potty this morning I took him to the local natural pet supply shop to socialize him. I hug out in there with the owner for a good few hours. Viking socialized with three other dogs, two cats, and several kids. It was good for him.

While the owner of the store and I were talking about different kibbles and which ones have benefits over others, suddenly Viking starts going nuts, barking, and tugging on the leash. I got a hunch and instead of trying to have him sit and calm down, I followed him this time. He lead me across the store, to the door, outside, and then he promptly went potty on the grass! He was telling ME that it was time to hurry up and go potty! I was so proud of him!

Just had to share that moment. He's such a great dog.

Yay! Good work Viking!
I love it when it finally "clicks" and they learn to tell you that they need to go out

Be careful socializing him around other animals right now. He's so young and susceptible to tons of illnesses that can be fatal to a pup his age!

Uhm, why are you spending hours in a pet store with a puppy you shouldn't even have yet, and letting him outside in strange grass to go to the bathroom!?

Seven weeks is too young to leave his mother. And his immune system is highly compromised being so young that it is dangerous to allow him to interact with dogs who may or may not be carrying fatal viruses on them. I've seen plenty of puppies die from Parvo at that age, so you really have to be careful.
