I'm trying to keep her mind occupied while waiting to get her to training, since she is still on-leash in the house and in the crate at night (or when I have things to do that I can't drag a dog on a leash around with me). I told the trainer that I taught her to "lay." He told me he usually uses "down" so I started saying "lay down" then dropped the "lay" and she responds to "down" now. So 2 nights ago I taught her "give me your paw." Only took about 4 times for her to get it, using leftover prime rib for the reward.

Now when I have a really good treat in hand, she quickly goes through a series of sitting, laying and offering her paw in rapid succession, trying to figure out which one I'm going to say in advance. My vet thought her skin was a bit dry from the heat in the house and recommended giving her some fish oil. I was wondering whether to pill her or squeeze it into her food. I've since found it's a favorite treat. I hand her one and she chomps it up and stares at me with her tongue hanging out wanting another one. This dog's funny.
