Frag has always been great (annoying) at this.
His dinner has always been delivered around 7:30-8:00 pm since he was a puppy. And in the last year, it's gotten to the point where if it hits 8 and he hasn't had dinner, he goes into the kitchen and picks a bowl (usually we have many left down from after breakfast in the morning) and starts plopping it over with his feet, making all kinds of metal noise on the laminate floor. He'll do that and then just stand there waiting or staring, tonight he's been coming in and shoving his head under Jon's hands as he holds the controller to his xbox. We know exactly what he wants every time, and if we're out visiting friends or family, he will go to the door and lean up against it like he does to ask to go out because he wants to go HOME to EAT, NOW. It's too funny, really... and helps us remember his dinner a lot, since he's the only one that eats twice a day! So how do your shepherds tell you it's dinner time, IF they do?

That's so funny! My dogs will tell me when it's time too. They also know who feeds them at a particular time. Breakfast is my husband and dinner is me. They won't go to my husband if they want dinner and won't go to me if they want breakfast. Such smart little babies they all are! Brody even knows when his "no play after eating" time is up. He has an internal clock!

Awh, that's funny! Yes, Frag will only go to Jon for dinner also. He NEVER asks for breakfast though. So strange.
Oh, and if I say "Fraggle Food?" to him when I know he wants dinner, he will tilt his head, look at Jon, then SCREAM while he's running to his food bowl.

my dog never ask for breakfast either but that's
because he doesn't have to wait for breaskfast. you get up, you let them out or walk them. when they come in it's breakfast time for them. Quote:

Jas is ALWAYS hungry. You'd swear I starve her the way she dives into her food bowl. It does help to get her in the door when shes running around playing to ask her, "you hungry?" and she practically knocks you down diving for the back door. LOL

Daisy has been known to smack her dish loudly when we are late feeding. Luck will just sit in front of you w/ sad puppy eyes. Both will go to the pantry door or closet door where their kibble and chews are kept ,another subtle hint.
