Default What a difference a dog makes :)

Some of you may of seen my thread looking for help for my OH's fathers dog Ollie. Ollie is a fearful 3 year old spanial who is terrified of people and new situations in general. I have a very happy update on him.
I brought Rio over Christmas eve (we were spending the night) and took Ollie out for an evening walk with us. He was skittish and stayed next to the wall where ever possible but he walked quite well without pulling while he was next to my girl. The walk was very enjoyable to be honest.
We got back home and let them meet each other off leash and Rio gently groomed his face and nudged him playfully. Ollie was hesitant to get up off his blanket in the sitting room but eventually he gave in to her licks and started to follow her about the house. His tail was going 90 miles and hour and he seemed to forget that we were in the room with him.
By the time we went to bed poor Rio was worn out but she did have very clean ears from all the grooming lol.
Christmas day turned out to be just as enjoyable. Ollie was waiting for Rio when we got up and his face lit up when she joined him for breakfast .
By the end of Christmas day Ollie was seeking out cuddles and scratches from us and he even licked my OH's face! Best gift either of us could of gotten
We have many playdates now planned for the new year and we hope it will bring Ollies confidance to a new high.
Thank you all who gave advice and I hope your Christmas was filled with as much joy as mine was!

I just love stories with a happy ending, happy for Ollie and all the future play dates coming his way. Congratulate yourselves for making that happen.

What a wonderful story! Big pat for Rio for being such a good friend to Ollie!

Thanks guys. Its funny, Rio is usually quite bouncy and playful with other dogs but she seemed to sense that she needed to be gentle around him. She put up with him licking inside her mouth and ears for hours without so much as a grunt. I think he got a free pass with her (he even took a treat from her) but he probably needed it. I'm very proud of them both
