This was an interesting Christmas to say the least!
My husband wanted a new axe and a tripod to hang animals from. We do slaughter sheep and occasionally get deer and he really needed a way to hang them. So those were 2 of his gifts this year. My sister and her family came over for dinner and to exchange gifts, and she was asking about the tripod and axe (which he uses to cut the legs off). We joked about how we should go out and search for a roadkill deer to try out his new gear with. So after dessert they all leave, and my husband and I go up to watch a DVD he got me for Christmas. A few minutes later, the phone rings. My sister had hit a deer shortly after leaving on her way home... She was fine, had some minor damage to her car, but called to tell us where the deer was. What are the odds of that?? I can't even think of the last time anyone in the family hit a deer. So my WONDERFUL husband was happy to go pick up the deer for the dogs. How many husbands would do that on Christmas?? ![]() The tripod was a pain to set up - the holes for the screws weren't even cut out right, it didn't come with anything to hang the deer on, and 2 of the legs were bent so badly he had to work on them with a hammer to get them all together - but we finally did it! The deer was a young one - maybe 60 or 70 lbs, but the dogs had fresh venison for their Christmas dinner. Djenga and Kessy each got a whole back ham, the others each got some other pieces, and the rest is in the freezer.
