Angry Don't Get Rid Of Dog, Only To Get Another! UGH!

So, I was talking to a friend the other day. She has a friend who got rid of a German Shepherd who was barely even 2 years old because of aggression problems. The SAME day they got rid of the "old" dog, they went and got another German Shepherd!! What the heck. Why!? So stupid. Then I was on craiglist snooping around, and saw an add that said "I Want To Trade Bulldog Puppy", so I clicked the add. The add said" I have a 9 WEEK old American Bulldog puppy that I want to trade for a Labrador. Please call this number." What idiots. Don't get rid of dog, just to get another dog! Ugh, so dumb!! I would NEVER do that to any dog, EVER!

That is sad.

My SIL neighbor got rid of their GSD because it was "shedding" too much only to turn around and get a lab...that I guess doesn't shed..whatever.

Some people have a poor conception of pet ownership. We have to put time into our pets and train them. We live in a society where we want the good end result "now" without the work it takes to get there.

My husband's sister did this when she got Knuckles' littermate. She had "rescued" a male GSD, Jasper, who was a great dog - only problem was he would get very vocal when he was jealous. They found him a new home to get the puppy. I just had to keep my mouth shut.

I am never going to forget this one dog from the rescue group who I got my first GSD from...He was dumped on Christmas EVE so that the family could "go get a new puppy for the next morning".

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor with that one.

I know where you are coming from--that kind of apathetic selfish stupidity makes you just want to scream and start slapping some sense into people!

my hubby's aunt was just telling me that day that they had a dog when they were younger but her children were so delighted with the puppy that they were getting a 'bit' distracted, so she went and left the poor puppy in the woods, puppy came bak(!) so she went to some more remote area in another village and left him there!!! it took everything in my willpower not to scream!! now she has the nerve to say( after seeing mia and us together) that she might think of getting a dog, since she is bored and lonely!!!! i was too disgusted to say ANYTHING!

I have heard alot of GSD being given up for "scratching too much" when in most cases a food change or good carpet cleaning would fix the allergy...so sad.

I knew a family that had 2 big beautiful Chows, they got tired of the shedding, pooping, eating and their size so they dumped them off in a big field in the middle of no where. Told their kids the dogs ran away and then they got some little mixed dog.
