I'm a morning grouch. It's best not to speak to me until I've had caffeine or a shower.
But it's hard to be grouchy when I wake up to a 65 pound pup on my chest licking me. She will literally drop herself on either my back or chest/stomach and lick my face until she has my attention. If I'm awake, she leaves me a lone. I don't have to necessarily get out of bed, but she wants me alert. Again, rather difficult to be mad when she looks so cute and happy. How do your pups wake you up? |

Joey comes around each side of the bed and sticks his nose in our faces, sometimes with a whine.
If it's way too early to get up (like this morning), and I know it's not feeding time or time to go out, we tell him "relax". He'll go back to his bed, and we can get more sleep. He's not allowed on our bed, and in the four months we've had him, he has not come on the bed. Some things (like sleep) are not negotiable, unless there's a real situation. |

I tell Panzer, "Go get daddy." Or sometimes I'll just point at DH, and Panzer knows it's time to get him up. DH is a grouch to wake up and becomes deaf to any amount of alarm ringing or any other sound that would normally wake the dead.
Thank goodness for Panzer's ability to wake DH in a happy way! DH will say, "Good morning Panzer," and Panzer's tail couldn't wag any faster. Very sweet and makes me smile every morning.

If I don't turn off my alarm clock fast enough, Beau "reminds" me that it's time to get up...then he promptly goes back to bed!

We have a ridiculous scenario on work mornings.
The alarm goes off. I hit snooze. Every day, I hit snooze. He hears that, he starts to get up, stretch, but leaves me be. I guess he knows I'm not getting up after the first one. When the second one goes off, he will start by staring at me dead in the eye, then once I give him a bleary eyeball, he will snuggle up on the bed with me and bury his head in the covers. When the second snooze goes off, he knows mama is going to get her tired butt out of bed. He's learned my routine.

A snuggled up GSD makes it SO hard to get out of bed. So comfy! People that don't allow their dog in bed are missing out, IMO.

My doggies most effective method of getting me out of bed is to fart. Seriously. I can sleep through an alarm but when they pass that gas......
