On April 18, 2011 Banjo saved my little brother getting bit by a Yellow Bellied Water Snake!! My brother ran outside with no shirt on only pants, so my mom called him to come back inside to get a shirt. Nathan started running for the house, and when he was about to step on the snake, Banjo jumped between the two!! The snake struck at Banjo, but misssed by an inch maybe!! I thank God everyday for my hero!! Even though the snake was non venomous it still would have been a bad day, and remember no snake is completely non venomous because of the bacteria in their mouth!! We also have 50-65 days until the snakes eggs hatch under the porch!! We are hoping that they were just a mating pare ( We thought the smaller snake coming back to the nest was the female, but the female was a good sized one)!!
P.S. For thoughs of you who don't know this, the female gets bigger aka thicker than the males, because the females grow faster!! We also found out the female was the thicker one because we had a friend who has delt with snakes before, and said the female was the thicker one, and the smaller one, less thicker one, was the male!! We disected the female, and she ate a beetle bug last!!

We are still very proud of Banjo. He warns us if he sees a snake. He's an awesome dog!?

My grandmother had a Heinz 57 dog that was murder on rattlesnakes. Dog would hunt the them and kill them like it was no big thing. Her name was Roxie, if I had to guess a breed it was feist and maybe collie.

That's a good thing though!? Although, I'd be scared my dog would get bit by the snake.
