Default What a whiner....

Does anyone have a dog that yelps and makes a HUGE deal when you grab their collar?! and it's never quiet...it's the loudest yelp he can manage, making me look like a bad person xP He always does it when I grab it to put him away while the maintenance man is here, or when I prevent him from rushing the door when people come over....He's such a drama queen...anyone else got someone going for an Oscar?

Not my own dogs, but my clients' dogs sometimes do the drama queen act. Not usually with grabbing their collar, but with things like toenail trims--some dogs will pre-emptively scream before I even *touch* their feet with the clippers.

No matter how gentle, Wiva will yelp and make a big scene when I grab her neck
She's a sensitive dog though so I do have to be careful with corrections

Sasha doesn't care if I grab her collar, but if I accidentally step on her paw you'd think I just hacked it off. She then also has to hold it up like she's been mortally wounded for quite some time.

Also if I try to put her in the bath tub she will carry on like I'm beating her and cower away from me until she's in the tub. Then she's fine; she just has to make sure the neighbors know she hates me lol

My Buddy has a splint on his leg, he doesn't do it now, but if you walked beside him (never touching the leg) he would start yelping as if someone yanked on it! Poor thing.

All my GSDs have been talkers, but never really any whiners.

GSDs are drama queens. They know they have us by the short and curlies and are not afraid to jerk us around.

Echo would do that when we were in public, as an older puppy... he'd ignore a command, then scream bloody murder at even verbal correction-- I swear he was trying to draw attention so that I wouldn't correct him and he could do whatever he **** well pleased Needless to say, I'm glad that phase has passed...

Ha, ha! I had a female, she was the biggest wussy...I remember one time, we had a park across from our house, and we'd go thru the park and into the fields past it for walks- she went running ahead of us,and started literally screamin and holding her foot up- people were starting to look at us like, 'is the dog being beaten?" caught up to her, as she was a little bit ahead, and I was frantically checking her out, (she was still screaming, mind you), by the time I had looked her over, no cuts, or bruising that I could see, and all the time I was looking, her screaming got quieter, and quieter, until she just stopped all the racket. Put her foot back down and was ready to go again. Looking back, it was pretty hilarious, I have this mental image of me and her, screaming in what seemed to be agony, and I'm picking up each foot, checking muscles, tendons, toes, you name it, and she's gradually lowering the volume until she's finally done. I think she might have stepped on a rock or something, I never did find out. She was fine after that. Strange dog.!
