this morning i took chobahn for a walk. about a block into our walk i heard scurrying along the pavement so i looked over my back and there was this min pin hauling
down the driveway of a house. sorry to use the censored smiley, to say that it was running fast or hauling butt would just not do enough justice cuz this thing was FLYING lol. anyway, so before i know it the thing ran across the street and was barking like crazy at us. it always barks when we walk by, but it's always tied up on the porch with the owner or inside the house, so i was really surprised the thing bolted, ran across the street and came right after us. luckily the owner came out when he heard the dog barking and called it off. all i said to him was "i'm sorry i didn't stop, i didn't want my dog to eat yours." totally not the right thing to say because chobahn does generally like other dogs, but he has the on leash reactivity at times and the capacity to really hurt or kill a small dog like that, if it came at him aggressively. the potential for harm is always there and i always think about that first and foremost. no way in heck was i going to stand there and have a potential fight unfold. i've never had this happen either, as we live in a semi-suburban area outside of boston and people are very careful about their dogs being contained. part of me felt guilty for not stopping to make sure his dog didn't run away and honestly i think he thought i was afraid of his little 10 lb monster, which isn't the case. no apology offered either. i don't really care, but still...really?
