Default Great night for Gretchen, not so much for Pimg

Last night was such a good night for Gretchen, as documented here. However, when I came home from the club meeting (which I didn't take Pimg to) Pimg looked oddly bloated. Physically bloated that is. Since Pimg has seriously bloated in the past (medically bloated- GDV), I watch her like a hawk for signs/symptoms of bloat. Last night she was holding her tail really odd, her abdomen was extremely tight, she was bloated like a ballon, she was stress panting, drinking tons of water, and oddly lethargic. I monitored her VERY closely throughout the night looking for any more intense signs of bloat like vomiting. She never did. And since she defecated around 3:30 am and again at 7:00 am I figured she was probably on the up.

Never the less- I just couldn't risk it. I took her to the vet first thing this morning and had xrays done. She isn't bloated (thank God!) but is also not processing her food. She hasn't eaten for 24 hours but her stomach and intestines are packed full of food. My vet said her stomach is normal size for a dog who just ate a meal- of course Pimg hasn't just eaten a meal... Her small intestines are also inflamed.

So she's now on meds, mild activity restrictions, and constant supervision with a follow up tomorrow morning.

Life with our dogs...

I'm sorry to hear that Pimg isn't feeling well. I hope it's nothing serious.

Pimg now has a clean bill of health, confirmed via xray. Her stomach is empty, she's pooped a couple times, and her intestines are emptying as well. She just enjoyed a bowl of food and is as happy as can be.

She also weighed in at 66.3lbs which is interesting on two counts- yesterday she was 75lbs, and also- I used to maintain her weight at around 73lbs. Since doing agility, I've maintained her closer to 66-67, and man does she look good!!
